The CFI-A7879 enables you to build a NAS-system (eg. with FreeNAS) on Mini-ITX basis. The enclosure offers 4x Hot-Plug SATA 3.5" drive bays and an internal 2.5" slot for the system drive. The internal 250W PSU offers enough power and the free PCI-slot on the rear side allows further expansion.

Grundsätzlich gutes Gehäuse, aber:

- für den Preis erwarte ich (zum Gehäuse passende) SATA-Kabel im Lieferumfang
- der Gehäuselüfter ist für den Preis eine Zumutung. Nicht einmal die Drehzahl lässt sich regeln. Dabei sind gute Lüfter echt nicht teuer...

Actually the improvements over the previous version are more than just USB3 and better PSU - now everything can be dismantled - the top has screws (it was riveted in prev. version), the same goes for the HDD cage. This makes the bottom 2.5 inch slot easily accessible and the assembly process is much much easier than before. I have one of the old ones and now I bought two of the new version and I can say - with these improvements this is probably the best NAS/storage server box on sale.

Qualitativ hochwertig verarbeitetes, kleines mini ITX Gehäuse. Ich nutze es für den Betrieb eines NAS und bin sehr zufrieden. Der Platz im innern ist jedoch so beschränkt, dass die Wahl des CPU Kühlers wohl überlegt sein muss. Aber ein Noctua NH-L9i CPU Kühler passt perfekt und bietet eine gute Kühlung. Die Belüftung des Gehäuses ist dank der zahlreichen Lüftungsöffnungen auf der Vorderseite und des 120mm Lüfters auf der Rückseite ausreichend gut. Lediglich die Lautstärke des Lüfters ist recht hoch und er lässt sich nicht per PWM steuern. Das integrierte Netzteil bietet genug Leistung und verrichtet seinen Dienst sehr leise. Kaufempfehlung!

Gut verarbeitet und ordentlich verpackt. Leider ohne Beschreibung (z. B. für die Anschlusskabel) und - obwohl Platz wäre - ohne eine Halterung für eine fest einzubauende Betriebssystem-Festplatte. Auch ein USB-3.0-Frontanschluss fehlt Will man ein Mainboard einbauen, muss das gesamte (!!!) Gehäuse inkl. HDD-Einschubkäfig mühsam zerlegt werden. Netzteil hat nur zwei Morex-Stromstecker, aber wer genügend Erfahrung hat, kann auch bis zu zwei 2,5"-Festplatten seitlich einbauen, muss aber die Frontplatte anbohren und das Netzteil mit Y-Kabeln versorgen.
Die Lüfter sind leise, aber nicht auszuschalten, Reset- und Ein/Ausschalter sind nicht beschriftet.
